The Press Institute of India and UNICEF conducted a day’s workshop on Journal Writing and Child Rights at the Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute (University) in Maduravoyal, Chennai, end-July. Watson Solomon, lecturer and communications specialist, took the session on Journal Writing. Sugata Roy, communications specialist, UNICEF, made a presentation on Child Rights and the various issues relating to the coverage of children in the media. About 100 students, including journalism students from SRM University, Kattangalathur, attended the workshop.
At the inaugural, Sashi Nair, director, PII-RIND released the front cover of the house journal prepared by the students. Also present were G. Gopalakrishnan, rector, and Padmasani Kannan from the English Department. They later met with Arun Kumar, president of the Dr MGR University.
