More than 60 students from the Department of English/ Journalism at the Women’s Christian College, Nungambakkam, attended a seminar on Journalism and Child Rights conducted by the Press Institute of India and UNICEF on August 20 at the college campus.
Sashi Nair, director, Press Institute of India, spoke about the changing face of Journalism and the challenges in store for journalists. He emphasised that developments in technology notwithstanding, the fundamentals of good journalism would always remain firmly rooted as ever. Sugata Roy, communications chief, UNICEF (Tamil Nadu & Kerala) made a brief presentation on various aspects related to child rights and portrayal of children by the media. Faculty members of the department were present.
