The first batch of Master Training Programme faculty members under Unnat Bharat Abhyan had visited the Gandhigram Rural Institute recently. The faculty members were from various educational institutions from southern India and they appreciated the work of the Gandhigram Trust in community development. A medical camp was organised to cater to the low socio-economic status groups. Chronic anaemia, hypertension and diabetes mellitus were some of the conditions identified. Patients were referred to Aravind Eye Hospital for treatment. Four fibroid uterus cases with adenomyosis were also identified and referred to the government hospital for treatment. More such medical camps will be conducted, says K. Shivakumar, managing trustee, Gandhigram Trust.
