A team of senior journalists headed by Md Shah Alamgir, director general of the Press Institute of Bangladesh, Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, visited the Press Institute of India on June 28. The team included Abul Kalam Azad, chief editor and managing director, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha; Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, editor-in-chief and CEO, Ekushey Television; Shyamal Dutta, editor, Daily Bhorer Kagoj; and Md Akkas Hossain, joint secretary (Press), Ministry of Information.
Sashi Nair, director and editor, PII-RIND; Magdoom Mohamed, managing director, WAN-IFRA South Asia; Partab Ramchand, senior journalist; and Commodore (retired) R.V. Vasan, head of the Chennai Centre for China Studies, welcomed the visitors. The two sides exchanged thoughts and ideas about the state of the media in both countries as well as journalism education.
Alamgir and the visitors were keen on exploring a working relationship with the Press Institute of India. He later presented PII a glass plaque as a memento.
