Focus on China: Cold War 2.0?

The Press Institute of India hosted on August 19 and 20 a conference, titled, ‘Xi Jinping’s third term: Implications for India and the global order’. The conference was organised by the China Study Forum in collaboration with the School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages, Rashtriya Raksha University, and the National Maritime Foundation. The China Study Forum comprises the Chennai Centre for China Studies (C3S), the Institute of Contemporary Studies Bangalore (ICSB), the Press Institute of India (PII), Chennai, and the Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives (FNVA), New Delhi.

Pictures here are from the first session on Day 2 titled, ‘Cold War 2.0?’.  Former Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, S. Varthaman chaired the session. Speakers included Sridhar Krishnaswami, editor-in-chief, New India Abroad, and former North America and United Nations Correspondent for The Hindu in Washington; M.R. Sivaraman former revenue secretary, who had also served as executive director, IMF; and Commodore R.S. Vasan, director general, C3S and regional director, National Maritime Foundation, Tamil Nadu.

Sridhar Krishnaswami spoke about India-US bonhomie and its impact on China.
M.R. Sivaraman dwelt on China-US Trade and new challenges.
Commodore R.S. Vasan, provided a picture of the rise in regional groupings, the prospects and implications.
