The Press Institute of India (PII), Chennai, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), New Delhi, announced the winners of this year’s PII-ICRC Annual Awards for Best Article and Best Photograph at an event held at the India International Centre on Friday, November 25. The top three prizes in the Best Article category – won by Aishwarya Mohanty, Parth M.N. and Mridula Chari. Apart from the first three prizes, three journalists were awarded Special Mention prizes – Sibi Arasu, freelance journalist; AK Sreejith, Staff Correspondent, Mathrubhumi Daily; and Ishan Kukreti, freelance journalist. They were not present at the function.
The top three winners in the Best Photograph category – won by Deepu B.P., B. Muralikrishnan and Prashant Kharote. Apart from the first three prizes, three Special Mention prizes were awarded – to Sathiyaseelan, Photojournalist, Dinamalar; E.V. Ragesh, Chief News Photographer, Mathrubhumi; and Vishnu Nair, Senior Photographer, Malayala Manorama. They were not present at the function.
