Forty students from the Department of Media Sciences’ integrated course on Electronic Media attended a half-day workshop conducted by the Press Institute of India and UNICEF on February 25, at Anna University, Chennai.
Sashi Nair, director, Press Institute of India, provided a broad sweep of the changing face of journalism and set the tone for responsible and sensitive reporting. Sugata Roy, communication specialist, UNICEF (Tamil Nadu & Kerala), made a detailed presentation on Child Rights and the various issues relating to the coverage of children in the media, also touching on the aspects of sexual harassment and child pornography. Present were Arul Aram, head of the Department of Media Sciences, research scholars and faculty members.
