‘4 ms for a newspaper’ – a seminar focuses on some pertinent issues

PII-RIND conducted today a seminar titled, ‘4 Ms for a Newspaper – Man, Machine, Material, Methods’.

V.S. Narayanan, senior GM – Technical, Dinamalar, kick-started proceedings with a lively presentation titled, ‘How to run and manage Machine operations effectively in a newspaper environment’.

J. Sandeep, assistant professor, Department of Printing Technology, Anna University, followed with a session on ‘An ideal approach to quality systems and management tools, and Methods for a newspaper manufacturing facility and processes.

After lunch, Prabhu Natrajan, research engineer, WAN-IFRA, spoke about ‘optimising raw Material through research approaches for a newspaper’.

P. Mohanraj, chief GM – Technical, The Hindu Group, spoke about the importance of the fourth M, ‘Approaching and guiding the production Manpower and team in the right direction to bring the best productivity’.

Participants included production executives from Deccan Herald/ Prajavani, Dinamalar, Malayala Manorama, The Hindu, and students from Anna University. Sashi Nair, director, PII-RIND, welcomed and introduced the speakers.
